Trimorpholinophosphine oxide (TMPO) is a chemical compound that is reactive and has a diameter of approximately 0.9 microns. TMPO absorbs radiation in the near infrared range and converts it to heat, which can be used for analytical purposes. TMPO reacts with other chemicals and changes their optical properties, such as the color or fluorescence. This enables TMPO to be used as a chemical sensor. Optical cavities made from TMPO can also be used to fabricate microlenses, which are used in microscopes and other optical devices.
