Tetramethylammonium hexafluorophosphate is a salt of tetramethylammonium cation and hexafluorophosphoric acid anion. It has been reported to exhibit antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus. Tetramethylammonium hexafluorophosphate can be prepared by the reaction of anhydrous acetonitrile with protonated tetramethylammonium hydroxide in the presence of water. The optimum concentration for this compound is between 0.5-1 mM (1). Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) has been used to investigate the biological properties of this compound. Tetramethylammonium hexafluorophosphate interacts with aromatic hydrocarbons and reacts irreversibly with them, leading to the formation of an imine intermediate. This compound also induces insulin resistance in mice by inhib
