Product Information
Name:Tetramethylammonium Sulfate
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Tetramethylammonium sulfate (TAMS) is a high-purity inorganic acid that is used as a catalyst in the synthesis of fatty acids. It can be detected by its protonation reaction with molybdenum, which produces a blue color. The detection sensitivity of TAMS can be increased by synthesizing it from molybdenum and sulfuric acid. The pH optimum for TAMS is 1.5, which is higher than that of most sulphates. The hydroxyl group and potassium ion are bound to the nitrogen atom in the molecule, which prevents this compound from absorbing light at wavelengths greater than 350 nm. Tetramethylammonium sulfate does not react with nicotinic acetylcholine or anthranilic acid
The reaction products of tetramethylammonium sulfate are formaldehyde and sodium sulfate (Na2SO4).
