Description

3-(2-Thienyl)acrylic acid is an organic compound that is the product of a chemical reaction between two molecules of malonic acid. It has been used to determine the kinetic and enantiomeric composition of herpes simplex virus at various wavelengths. 3-(2-Thienyl)acrylic acid also shows absorption in ultraviolet light, which may be due to its functional groups, such as hydrogen bonds. 3-(2-Thienyl)acrylic acid has not shown any potential use other than being a reactant for chemical reactions involving malonic acid.
