4-(Trifluoromethyl)pyridine is a functional group that has been shown to induce apoptotic cell death in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. 4-Pyridinecarboxylate, a reaction product of this functional group, is an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
