Description:1,1,2-Tribromo-2-fluoroethane (TBE) is a chiral compound that reacts with p-toluenesulfonic acid to give two products. One product is the 1,1,2,3-tetra bromo-4-(p-tolyloxy)benzene, which has a chiral center at the 4 position. The other product is 2-(p-tolyloxy)-1,1,2,3-tetrafluorobenzene. These products can be used to synthesize sitafloxacin or malonate. The amino group in TBE can be hydrolyzed to form an amine and bromine.
