It is used as a chemotherapeutic drug for breast cancer. 2,2,2-Trifluoroethanesulfonamide has been shown to inhibit the growth of MCF-7 cells by reducing glutamate uptake and fatty acid synthesis. This agent also reduces the production of l-glutamic acid in these cells, which may be related to its ability to inhibit leukemia cell proliferation.
