Tert-butyldimethylsilyltris(4-fluorophenyl)borane is a reducing agent that has been used in organic synthesis to reduce peroxides. It reacts with toluene and carbon nanoparticles, which are formed by the reduction of carbon dioxide. The product of this reaction is a boron-carbon bond. Tert-butyldimethylsilyltris(4-fluorophenyl)borane promotes the catalytic activity of alkaline solutions and has been shown to interact with fluorine atoms. The size of the molecule is 0.95 nm in diameter.
