Description:
5-[2-(Trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-2-furoic acid is a metabolite that belongs to the class of carboxylic acids. It is an analog of furoic acid, which has been shown to be neurodevelopmental toxicants in animal models. 5-[2-(Trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-2-furoic acid inhibits methionine aminopeptidase, leading to a buildup of methionine and subsequent inhibition of protein synthesis. This compound also binds to metal ions and ligands and can serve as a bactericidal agent against tuberculosis.
