Description:
Trifluoromethanesulfonic acid ytterbium salt hydrate is a chiral covalent molecule that is prepared by the allylation of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid with ethyl acetate and ytterbium chloride. It has been shown to be effective in the preparation of gold electrodes for atomic force microscopy. Trifluoromethanesulfonic acid ytterbium salt hydrate functions as a ligand for the coordination of metal ions, and has been used in preparative chemistry for separation of carbonyl compounds. The atomic force microscope has been used to study its interactions with various surfaces, including carbon nanotubes and gold surfaces.
