Product Information
Isovouacapenol C is a new diterpene that was isolated from the bark of Caesalpinia pulcherrima. Isovouacapenol C has been shown to be an insecticidal compound that inhibits the growth of insect herbivores. It has been shown to inhibit the development and reproduction of Plutella xylostella, Pectinophora gossypiella, and Spodoptera litura larvae. The insecticidal activity of this compound may be due to its ability to inhibit chitin biosynthesis by binding to acetyl-CoA carboxylase.
Isovouacapenol C is an oriented molecule with a five-membered ring in its chemical structure. This compound contains three stereogenic centers that are located at positions 3, 4 and 5 on the five-membered ring. Isovouacapenol C can be synthesized by using radiation as a catalyst
