Uzarigenin is a natural compound that has been shown to have anti-cancer effects. It was found to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo, specifically targeting the mitochondria. Uzarigenin has also been shown to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential, which is required for ATP synthesis and cell division. Furthermore, this compound inhibits angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing ones) and the invasion of cancer cells into surrounding tissue. Uzarigenin has also been shown to induce apoptosis (cell death) in cancer cells by increasing reactive oxygen species production, thereby disrupting mitochondrial function.
