Vorapaxar sulfate is a platelet aggregation inhibitor that is used to prevent thrombosis. It inhibits the activation of human platelets by inhibiting the binding of thrombin to its receptor on the surface of platelets, which prevents the production of fibrinogen. Vorapaxar sulfate has been shown to be effective in reducing intracranial haemorrhage and ischaemic attack in patients with stroke or transient ischaemic attack. Vorapaxar sulfate also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
