Description

Inhibitor of histone deacetylases (HDAC), anti-epileptic agent and teratogen. Valproic acid causes histone hyperacetylation, induces differentiation of carcinoma cells, reduces tumour growth and decreases formation of metastasis. Valproic acid also activates the Wnt-dependent gene expression and can cause developmental defects such as spina bifida.
