Description:L-Valine tert-butyl ester hydrochloride is a chiral diastereomeric, stereocontrolled acid ester. This product is a kinetically controlled reaction of L-valine and toluene that produces a racemic mixture of the cis and trans isomers in the ratio of 1:1. The cis isomer has been shown to be more effective than the trans isomer as a peptidomimetic. This product also exhibits stereogenic properties when reacted with acid anhydrides.
