Product Information
Name:Vanadium(IV) oxide acetylacetonate
Synonyms:
- Vanadyl acetylacetonateVanadyl 2,4-pentanedionate
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Vanadium oxide acetylacetonate (VOAc) is a water-soluble, high-temperature stable compound that is used as an oxidation catalyst. VOAc catalyzes the conversion of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen gas and has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects in rats with diabetes. The mechanism of action for VOAc is not well understood, but it may involve an antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity mechanism. The coordination geometry of VOAc has been determined to be square planar. This compound can be synthesized by reacting vanadyl acetylacetonate with trifluoroacetic acid (TFA).
FURTHER INFORMATION: Vanadium is a chemical element found in the Earth’s crust and all living organisms. It exists in two oxidation states: +4 and +3. Vanadyl acetylacetonate is a coordination complex between vanadium and acetylacetone, which is similar to acetic acid but without
