N-Vinyl-2-pyrrolidone is a water soluble, biocompatible polymer that is used in a range of applications. It has been shown to have low toxicity and is therefore suitable for use as a model system in the study of phase transition temperature. NVP has also been shown to be able to form copolymers with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and other polymers. This property makes it a useful candidate for biomedical applications such as wound dressings and drug delivery systems. NVP can be synthesized by laser ablation, which reduces the need for expensive equipment. The synthesis of this polymer is also relatively inexpensive and environmentally friendly due to its lack of hazardous byproducts. N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone is synthesized by laser ablation without any hazardous byproducts, making it an environmentally friendly polymer. It provides low toxicity, which makes it a good model system for studying phase transition temperature
