Phenacyltriphenylphosphonium Bromide is a pyridinium salt that has been used for the stabilization of sulfur-containing compounds. It is also used as a catalyst in organic synthesis reactions involving carbonyl, triphenylphosphonium, and phosphite intermediates. Phenacyltriphenylphosphonium Bromide can be synthesized by the reaction of a chloride with a phosphorus ylide and an alcohol. The product is isolated by filtration and purified by distillation. This compound is thermally stable up to 250°C and can be used to stabilize sulfur-containing compounds such as chalcones, carbonyls, and triphenylphosphonium salts.
