Description:
Pyrene-4,5-dione is a coordination complex that has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme protocatechuic acid carboxylase. It is used as a chemical probe for the study of this enzyme and its role in lysosomal degradation. Pyrene-4,5-dione has also been shown to inhibit DNA duplexes and covalently bind to them, which may lead to an analytical method for the determination of DNA duplexes in biological samples.
