Product Information
- Methyl 2,5-Dichloro-6-Methoxybenzoate
- Methyl 3,6-Dichloro-2-Methoxybenzoate
Dicamba methyl ester is a growth regulator that inhibits the uptake of amino acids. It is also a chromatographic method for the determination of dicamba in plant tissues, which can be used to identify the transport inhibitor and transfer reactions. Dicamba methyl ester has been shown to have a thermodynamic constant of -0.2 kcal/mol, which is due to the n-oxide group. The fatty acid group on this molecule makes it easily soluble in water and hydrolysis occurs at about pH 7. Dicamba methyl ester is biosynthesized by an abiotic process from magnesium oxide and fatty acid. It can also be synthesized from its precursor, 2-chloro-N-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)acetamide by reacting with chloromethyl ether in a hydrolysis process.
