Asimilobine is a phenolic acid that is found in plants. It has been shown to have carcinogenic potential, but not all studies have found it to be associated with cancer. Asimilobine has been found to inhibit the growth of hematopoietic cells and skin cancer cells by binding with GABAA receptors. It also binds to DNA, activating the anti-proliferation activity of natural compounds such as fructus and gamma-aminobutyric acid. The concentration of asimilobine in food can vary depending on the type of fruit consumed.
