Epiberberine is a natural alkaloid that is isolated from Coptis chinensis. It has been shown to have antibacterial efficacy against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Epiberberine was found to have a molecular docking score of -0.96, indicating that it has a high probability of binding to the target protein (HL-60 cells). The HL-60 cell line is used as a model for studying apoptosis pathways. Epiberberine also has hypoglycemic effects in vitro, which can be confirmed by in vivo studies. This drug also shows drug interactions with drugs such as metformin and bupropion, which are used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus type 2.
