Product Information
- Acetic acid, chloro-, n-decyl ester
- Acetic acid, chloro-, decyl ester
Decyl 2-chloroacetate is a growth regulator that inhibits the growth of microorganisms by inhibiting lipid synthesis. It is not toxic to mammals and has been shown to be biodegradable. Decyl 2-chloroacetate binds to enzymes in the fatty acid biosynthesis pathway, thereby preventing the formation of acyl-CoA esters. Decyl 2-chloroacetate also inhibits the activity of other enzymes, such as hydrolases, which are involved in the metabolism of amino acids and nucleic acids. Decyl 2-chloroacetate also shows bactericidal activity against E. coli and S. aureus, with an MIC value of 0.1%.
