Description:8-Fluoro-1-methylisoquinoline is a ketoxime that is used in the synthesis of vinyl and decumbenine. Vinyl acetate reacts with 8-fluoro-1-methylisoquinoline to form vinyl esters. 8-Fluoro-1-methylisoquinoline can be converted to an aldoxime by reaction with sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide, forming 8-fluoroindole. The indole formed can be reduced to isoquinolines by treatment with zinc dust, hydrochloric acid, and hydrogen gas.
