Ifflaiamine (IFLA) is a synthetic compound that has been derived from acridone. IFLA is an ionic liquid that has been shown to be able to be analysed by LC-MS and electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry. IFLA is an analogue of lunamarine, which has been shown to be effective against some bacterial strains such as Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties. Ternata, Euxylophora, Lunasia, Ternata and Lunamarine are all names for the same chemical compound.
