Description:2,2',3,4,4',6-Hexachlorobiphenyl is a polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) that has been shown to be an inducible and potent inducer of cytochrome p-450. It also induces the activity of cytochrome b5. The PCBs are metabolized by epoxidases which convert them to epoxy metabolites. The metabolism of 2,2',3,4,4',6-hexachlorobiphenyl is catalyzed by cytochrome P450 isoforms with different potencies. This chemical has been shown to cause hepatotoxicity in Sprague-Dawley rats when administered at high doses.
