Product Information

Name:
Tirotundin
Description:

Tirotundin is a sesquiterpene lactone that has been shown to have an antiproliferative effect on cells. This compound inhibits the production of collagen and may be used for the treatment of skin conditions such as radiation dermatitis. Tirotundin has also been shown to inhibit the production of keratin, which is a protein involved in the process of keratinization. Tirotundin also has antioxidant properties. It is believed that this antioxidant activity may be due to its ability to scavenge free radicals, reactive oxygen species, and nitrogen oxide radicals. The acetate extract from diversifolia (a plant) contains tirotundin. The chemical structures of tirotundin are polyene, which are long hydrocarbon chains containing alternating single and double carbon-carbon bonds.
