- 6-Chloro-N-ethyl-N'-isopropyl-N-nitroso-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine
N-Nitrosoatrazine is a genotoxic compound that is used as an analytical reagent in the field of toxicology. It has been shown to be clastogenic and to cause micronucleus formation in mammalian cells. The toxicity of this compound is related to its ability to induce DNA damage, which may be due to its ability to generate reactive oxygen species by nitrating tyrosine residues on proteins in the cell. N-Nitrosoatrazine also inhibits growth rate and reduces the number of ovary cells in female rats. This effect may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of amines, which are required for follicle development.
