Product Information
Taxagifine is a diterpenoid that has potent cytotoxicity and induces apoptosis. It binds to the target cell, which can be any type of cell, and inhibits the function of enzymes (such as protein kinases) that are necessary for the growth of cells. Taxagifine also inhibits the production of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), a molecule involved in immune responses. Taxagifine is derived from corylus and taxus plants, which produce taxol, an anticancer drug. The main difference between taxol and taxagifine is that taxol is water soluble while taxagifine is not. Taxagifine also has a hydroxyl group at C-3 position, while taxol does not have this group.
