Description:
3-Acetyl-1-tosylpyrrole is a lipid peroxidation inhibitor that acts as an electron donor to react with free radicals. It can be used in the synthesis of anilines, which are used for the manufacture of dyes and pharmaceuticals. 3-Acetyl-1-tosylpyrrole has also been shown to have antioxidant properties, inhibiting carrageenan induced paw oedema. The compound is synthesized by a Wittig reaction using 1,3-dibromoindole and ethyl acetate in the presence of hydrochloric acid.
