Name:
vina-ginsenoside R4
Synonyms:
  • Dammarane,b-D-glucopyranoside deriv.
  • VinaginsenosideR4
Description:

Vina-ginsenoside R4 is a saponin that belongs to the group of natural compounds. It has been shown to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects. Vina-ginsenoside R4 inhibits the activity of tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in melanogenesis, and inhibits the expression of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α. This compound also induces apoptosis by inhibiting the activation of caspases and downregulating the antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2. Vina-ginsenoside R4 is being developed as a treatment for skin cancer and other diseases because it has been shown to inhibit proliferation of cancer cells in clinical studies.
