Description:GTS-21 is a potent, selective and orally active amide that has been shown to modulate α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in animal models. It also increases the levels of tyrosine kinase, which are expressed in cardiac tissue. GTS-21 has been shown to increase blood pressure and reduce the incidence of ventricular fibrillation in animals. This drug may be useful for treating ischemia/reperfusion injury, as it can inhibit fibroblast proliferation and transients. GTS-21 also potentiates acetylcholine by acting on acetylcholine receptors found on the heart muscle cells. This drug may have a role in treating patients with heart failure.
