Terpendole C is a potent inhibitor of cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT) and is used in the treatment of metabolic disorders. It has also been shown to decrease tremorgenic mycotoxins in perennial ryegrass, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cholesterol synthesis. Terpendole C has been found to have neovascular properties and has been shown to prevent eye disorders such as cataracts and retinopathy. It also has cancer-preventing properties, which may be due to its anti-angiogenic effects on tumor cells. This compound is a wild-type strain that inhibits the death protein, and is therefore capable of preventing apoptosis in cells.
