Product Information
Fluxapyroxad-N-desmethyl is a potent, broad spectrum antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Fluxapyroxad-N-desmethyl binds to the RNA polymerase of microorganisms, blocking mRNA synthesis and inhibiting protein synthesis. This results in bactericidal activity and an increased susceptibility to other antibiotics. Fluxapyroxad-N-desmethyl has also been shown to inhibit DNA replication through its inhibition of bacterial DNA gyrase.
