Product Information
Niraxostat is a mannosidase inhibitor that has inhibitory properties against the enzyme mannosidase. It is used to treat squamous cell carcinoma, which can be caused by excessive production of alpha-mannosidase. Niraxostat also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines and other inflammatory mediators, such as prostaglandin E2 and nitric oxide. This inhibition may promote tumor regression by controlling inflammation. The mechanism of action is not fully understood, but may involve the inhibition of protein kinase C or phospholipases.
Niraxostat has been shown to inhibit the growth of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain in vitro, with an IC50 value of 1-2 µg/mL. Niraxostat does not inhibit Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain at concentrations below 2 µg/mL and therefore does not have any effect on fermentation processes in bakeries and breweries.
