It is used for the treatment of pain in rats and has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on physiological functions. BD 1063 is a selective inhibitor of recombinant human cytochrome P450 CYP2D6. This compound also has a neuroprotective effect and reduces cellular calcium overload, which may be due to its ability to stimulate serotonin reuptake. The effects of BD 1063 on animal models have been studied using various assays, including rat liver microsomes and a pain model in rats.
