Description:

2,3-Dihydroindene-1-sulfonamide is an acidic drug with a molecular weight of 240. It has been shown to be chemically stable and has binding affinity for carbonic anhydrase. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of human macrophages in a pharmacological study. The compound binds to the hydroxyl group on the surface of macrophages and inhibits their function. 2,3-Dihydroindene-1-sulfonamide has also been shown to have inhibitory properties against inflammatory bowel disease by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in vitro. The compound is not active against hypoxic tumor cells, however it was found to be effective against asymmetric synthesis in monoclonal antibodies.
