Product Information

Name:
Dactylorhin A
Description:

Dactylorhin A is a phenolic acid that is found in the plant Carica papaya. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of chemokine receptors. Dactylorhin A has also been shown to inhibit human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) replication. The biological sample used in this study was obtained from carotid artery plaques taken from humans undergoing a surgical procedure for atherosclerosis. Dactylorhin A selectively inhibits HIV-1 reverse transcriptase and HIV-2 reverse transcriptase with IC50 values of 0.03 and 0.05 microM respectively, but does not inhibit the DNA polymerases of other organisms such as Escherichia coli or Bacillus subtilis at concentrations up to 500 microM. This compound has also been shown to have chemopreventive effects on tumorigenesis in animals and is being studied in cell culture for its anti-cancer properties
