Parvifolixanthone A is a natural product that has been isolated from the bark of Parvifolia. It is an antioxidation agent that has been shown to have antibacterial activity in vitro against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Parvifolixanthone A has also demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandins. The major component of this compound is norathyriol, which has been shown to have antiproliferative effects on cancer cells. Spectroscopic data indicates that Parvifolixanthone A contains phloroglucinols, xanthones and depsidones.
