Product Information

Name:
MM-22
Description:

MM-22 is a novel antibiotic that has been shown to be effective in vivo against experimental models of infection. In particular, MM-22 has been shown to have antimicrobial properties against bacteria and fungi and to inhibit the growth of bacteria in the gut. MM-22 also has anti-inflammatory effects in animals. The acetate extract of MM-22 was found to have significant anti-cancer and anti-microbial activity in vitro. It has been shown that this extract inhibits the growth of tumor cells by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis through inhibition of ATP citrate lyase, leading to decreased malonyl coenzyme A production. This inhibition leads to a decrease in histone acetylation, which can lead to cell death. MM-22 also inhibits the growth of Candida albicans by inhibiting protein synthesis and causing programmed cell death (apoptosis).
