Gomesin is a peptide derived from the venom of the tarantula Acanthoscurria gomesiana. It has been shown to have antimicrobial and anti-cancer properties. Gomesin has been shown to be effective against Acanthoscurria gomesiana, a spider that can cause skin lesions in humans. In vitro studies have shown that Gomesin inhibits the growth of melanoma cells and reduces their invasiveness. Studies on mice have also demonstrated its potential for treating cancer. Gomesin belongs to a class of peptides called "Biologically Active Peptides" that are known for their ability to stimulate cellular responses in animal models and human subjects.
