ABP is a protein synthesis inhibitor, and it also inhibits the transcriptional regulation of NF-κB DNA binding. It has shown to be effective in vitro against carcinoma cells lines, cell culture, and p24 antigen levels. This drug should not be used in patients with autoimmune diseases or congestive heart failure. Achyranthes bidentata polysaccharide should not be taken by patients with collagen disease because it may lead to increased degradation of collagen.
