Product Information
N'-Hydroxy-2-methylbenzimidamide is a molecule with a heterocyclic ring. This compound has been shown to have bactericidal effects against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and resistant microorganisms. N'-Hydroxy-2-methylbenzimidamide binds to the heparin binding site of bacterial cell walls, which prevents the synthesis of peptidoglycan. This causes the cell wall to weaken and eventually rupture, leading to cell death by osmotic lysis. The benzyl groups on this molecule may be responsible for its antimicrobial activity via dipole interactions with microbial membranes.
