CGP 36216 hydrochloride is used in the treatment of seizures and can be used as an adjunct to baclofen preparations in the treatment of spasticity. CGP 36216 hydrochloride has been shown to increase frequency of spontaneous inhibitory postsynaptic currents in neocortical neurons, which may be due to its ability to activate presynaptic GABA receptors.
