Description:

7-Hydroxyflavone is a flavonoid found in the etoac extract of Eucalyptus citriodora. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of human recombinant cytochrome P450 enzymes, with IC50 values of less than 2 μM. 7-Hydroxyflavone is also able to inhibit the oxidation of various fatty acids by acting as an intramolecular hydrogen donor and can therefore act as a prodrug for other drugs. In vitro assays on human cancer cells have shown that 7-hydroxyflavone inhibits cellular growth and induces apoptosis. This compound has also been shown to possess high resistance against usnic acid and glucuronide conjugate formation.
