Bephenium (BEP) is a drug that belongs to the group of anthelmintic drugs. It is used for the treatment of parasitic worms in humans and animals. BEP has been shown to cause a significant increase in acetylcholine, which may be due to activation of the nicotinic receptors on the postsynaptic membrane. BEP inhibited protein gene expression in the rat brain and was cytotoxic to cancer cells. Additionally, it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
