It also exhibits activity against fungi such as Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. 5-Dodecene has been shown to inhibit bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis through inhibition of the ribosome's 50S subunit and binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV.
