1-Butoxy-4-nitrobenzene is a synthetic organic solvent that has been shown to induce leukemia in mice. It is also an inhibitor of porcine pancreatic lipase, which is the enzyme responsible for hydrolyzing fatty acids into glycerol and fatty acids. 1-Butoxy-4-nitrobenzene has been shown to inhibit the activity of this enzyme in vitro, leading to a decrease in monoacylglycerol production. This compound binds strongly to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) templates and inhibits the enzymatic activity of DNA polymerases. It also has been shown to exhibit structural studies, as well as binding properties that are similar to those of known substrates.
