1-(tert-Butyl)hydrazine hydrochloride is a chemical with the molecular formula CHN. It is a white solid that is soluble in water, acetone, and ethanol. 1-(tert-Butyl)hydrazine hydrochloride reacts with trifluoroacetic acid to produce methyl ethyl amines. The compound has been shown to be effective in wastewater treatment. 1-(tert-Butyl)hydrazine hydrochloride will react with an amine to form a regiospecific unsymmetrical pyrazole. This reaction takes place in the presence of hydrochloric acid and produces nitrogen gas as a byproduct.
