It has been used as a fluorescent probe for nitrate anions and shows constant fluorescence intensity over a wide range of pH values. 2-Chloro-N,N-diisopropylacetamide also exhibits luminescence properties and can be used as a sensor for amide anions. The compound has been shown to enhance the emission of lanthanide metal ions in the near infrared region when excited. 2-Chloro-N,N-diisopropylacetamide is also an efficient catalyst for desulfurization reactions.
